From 13 to 15 March 2026
The Chinese Grand Prix at the Shanghai International Circuit has been a staple on the Formula 1 calendar since 2004. Unfortunately, it was canceled in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But now, after a four-year hiatus, the racetrack resembling the Chinese character ‘shang’ is set to make a comeback in 2025 as the fifth race of the season.
The Chinese Grand Prix has been known for its dedication to the traditional weekend race format. However, this will change in 2026, as the event will adopt the newest version of the Sprint Weekend arrangement introduced in 2021.
The Shanghai International Circuit, crafted by famous track designer Hermann Tilke, offers a unique blend of high-speed and low-speed corners. The history of the race has been filled with excitement and unexpected events, including a memorable incident in 2007 when Lewis Hamilton found himself trapped at the entrance to the pit lane.
The 2026 Formula 1 China Grand Prix will start with a free practice session on March 13 and conclude with the final race on March 15, 2026.
